clawbot b923b2c19c fix: a V4 step of chained swap actions shows what the user receives (closes #563)
check / check (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Waiting to run
A V4 step's input side is what SETTLE or SETTLE_ALL names, else the one
currency its swap actions spend and never buy; its output side is what
TAKE or TAKE_ALL names, else the one they buy and never spend. Amount sums
the amountIn of the actions spending the input side, shown only when each
states one; Min. received likewise. An unread swap action leaves the sides
to SETTLE, SETTLE_ALL, TAKE and TAKE_ALL, with no figure. A step with a
swap action always sets the output side, sets the input side only if no
earlier step did, and leaves a side its rules cannot name unknown, with no
figure. SWAP_EXACT_OUT spends its first path entry.

clawbot e2e1c5d40e fix: the recipient warning says what it checked and skips addresses that have received ETH (closes #528)
check / check (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Waiting to run
The transaction count the node reports is what an address has sent, so
an address that only receives, such as a savings address, got the "ZERO
transaction history" box on every send. The check now also asks the node
for the recipient's balance and warns only when both are zero. The box
says the address has never sent a transaction and holds no ETH, naming
the active network's native token as the contract warning does.

clawbot fc042c3191 fix: a page whose origin has no host is never told an address by accountsChanged (closes #564)
check / check (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Waiting to run
The background judges each tab by its URL's origin, the only one it can see, so a page its server sandboxes, whose own origin is null, was still sent the new active address on an address switch although all its requests are refused.

The background now names the origin it judged by on each accountsChanged event, and the content script passes the address to the page only when the page's own window.origin is that origin, an empty list otherwise. An event naming no origin also reaches the page as an empty list. chainChanged is unchanged. The README's SiteApproval section says the same.

Judgement call: covered by a unit test that sets window.origin; no browser-suite test.

clawbot 8b0a1bff02 fix: a site allowed without Remember stays connected when the background worker idles (closes #526)
check / check (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Waiting to run
A connection allowed without "Remember my choice for this site" lived in a module-level object in the background, so it ended the first time Chrome stopped the idle worker. Each such connection is now one item in the browser's session storage, which outlives the worker and is emptied when the browser closes, read and written through new wrappers in src/shared/browserApi.js. Removal in Settings, address switch, address removal and wallet removal still end it; Settings now waits for the removal before redrawing.

manifest/firefox.json now declares a minimum of Firefox 115.0, the first with session storage.

Judgement call: address and wallet removal still notify the background without waiting.

clawbot 1f5ec1c8de fix: Send refuses every amount the confirmation screen would refuse (closes #532)
check / check (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Waiting to run
Send's Review accepted any amount parseFloat() read as above zero, so 1e-3, 1abc and amounts with too many decimal places reached ConfirmTx, which then refused them or failed to estimate the fee.

isValidAmount() in src/shared/txValidation.js is now the one amount check, used by Send's Review and Max and by validateTransfer() for ConfirmTx: plain digits with at most one decimal point, above zero, nothing but zeros past the token's places. Zeros past those places are accepted, since the transfer encodes the amount exactly. Send now reads the token's decimal places before the ENS lookup, because the check needs them.

Judgement call: ConfirmTx now also refuses zero, as Send already did.

clawbot f00954e2c5 fix: failed requests reach the page with an error code and the node's data (closes #533)
check / check (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Waiting to run
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Waiting to run
A request the node refuses now reaches the page with the node's own JSON-RPC code and data: a reverting eth_call, an eth_sendTransaction whose gas estimate reverts, a failed broadcast. Every other refusal from the background carries a code too: 4100 when there is no address, -32603 for a failure inside the wallet, -32602 for a transaction request the wallet refuses as malformed. On the transaction path the page keeps the wallet's own sentence.

nodeError(), which finds the node's error inside an ethers error, lives in src/shared/approvalVerify.js beside failureTexts(), which did the same lookup.

Not run in a browser.

clawbot e48308c5b6 fix: the first wallet's first address is active as soon as it is added (closes #512)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
The popup picked an active address only when it opened, so after the first
wallet was created nothing was active until a reopen: Home had no headline,
and Send and Receive refused. Each of the three import paths on AddWallet now
makes the new wallet's first address active when no address is. When the
phrase or xprv scan then replaces the address list with one that leaves that
address out, the new list's first address becomes active and the background
is told, as when the user picks an address on Home. The address scan stand-in
in the popup test boot now answers in the real scan's shape, which the phrase
and xprv imports read.

clawbot 2c0888e112 fix: approval windows open as wide as the page (closes #518)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
The approval window opened 360 pixels wide while the page is 396, cutting
off the Reject button; it now opens at 396. The browser counts the
window's frame in that width, and a tall screen gives some of it to a
vertical scrollbar, so once the approval's screen is up the page widens
its own window by however far it would scroll sideways, times the zoom of
its own tab. Firefox draws some zoom steps a little larger than it
reports, so the page measures again after each widening, three times at
most. The toolbar popup's window is left alone. The Firefox suite checks
that the sign prompt fits at 170%. README's Visual Style line now gives
the page's real width.

clawbot f857bb0a3f fix: a request whose origin has no host is refused, not treated as a site (closes #527)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
A page with an opaque origin, such as one its server sandboxes with a
Content-Security-Policy, is reported to the background with the origin
"null", and Chrome reports a local file as "file://". The background took
either as a site, so every such page was one site: a connection remembered
for one covered them all, and the phishing check never matched. The
background now parses the reported origin and, when it has no host, refuses
the request with 4100 like one with no origin, before any method runs.
tests/rpcOrigin.test.js sends both, and README's SiteApproval says what is
refused.

clawbot 70a41ed70e fix: typed data with a missing field or a bool that is not true or false is refused (closes #552)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
ethers signs a bool field by whether its value is truthy, so the string
"false" was shown as false and signed as true, and a bool field left out
was shown as nothing and signed as false. The sign screen now refuses
typed data whose message leaves out a declared field, at any level of
nesting, or holds a bool that is not true or false: the error line names
the field and Sign is disabled. The background refuses a signature for it
too. Presence is an own-key test, so a field named like a built-in
property such as constructor is not found by accident. signedPrimaryType()
moves to the shared module so the background reads the message as the
same type.

clawbot f9f32ab32d fix: a slow answer to an approval still reaches the site (closes #540)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
Chrome stopped the background worker about six minutes after a site's
request even with the approval window open, and the approval and the
site's waiting request went with it. Every approval is now added through
addPendingApproval(), which starts a timer in the worker that calls
runtime.getPlatformInfo() every 20 seconds while any approval is
pending; Chrome counts each call as activity.

tests/e2e/slowApproval.js, run by make test-e2e, leaves a transaction
and a signature approval open for seven minutes in minimized windows and
requires the site to receive both results. It drives Chromium over the
DevTools pipe because Playwright keeps DevTools attached to the worker.
Its loopback dApp server, shared with the Firefox suite, moves to
tests/e2e/dapp.js.

clawbot bad6494e43 fix: a V4 swap action not in the deployed shape is shown as not decoded (closes #358)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
The four V4 swap actions are read only as the structs deployed on mainnet
and Sepolia. ethers read the newer v4-periphery structs, which add
minHopPriceX36, as the deployed ones, and the newer multi-hop exact-in
struct showed the offset of its hop-price array as the swap amount. A
decode now counts only when encoding it again gives back the same bytes.
A swap action that fails that marks its step "V4 Swap (could not be
decoded)", and a side its SETTLE or TAKE did not name reads "Unknown
(could not be decoded)". The wait and error screens no longer show the
ETH value as the amount of a swap whose amount was not read, unless the
swap is paid in native ETH.

clawbot f4551dcb67 chore: bring the token-list enrichment tooling into script/lib (closes #495)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
The two node programs and the data file from f7a2437 regenerate the name and
url of each token in src/shared/tokenList.js. They are now CommonJS under
script/lib/ and read ethereum-lists at a pinned commit. The apply step also
rewrites an entry that already has a name and url, so it runs on the current
list, and stops on an address that matches no list entry. Exported as
applyEnrichment, it is run by tests/applyEnrichment.test.js, which fails when
the committed list differs from what it writes. Its table of websites now gives
FLOKI and TURBO a URL. make enrich-tokens and make apply-enrichment run the
programs. script/check-censored allows the MUSD token's on-chain name in the
data file.

clawbot 575f1658ae fix: estimate a request even when the site sends its gas limit (closes #554)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
ethers asks the node for a gas estimate only when the request has no gas
limit, and that estimate is the wallet's only check that a transaction
does not revert. Since a site's `gas` became the gas limit, a reverting
request carrying one opened the approval window and could be signed and
mined to fail. Such a request is now estimated first, with the site's
limit and under the same timeout; a failure goes back to the site with no
window, and the site's gas limit is still the one shown and signed. A
limit too low for the call now fails the same way.

clawbot c40c7432a5 fix: sign and export with each address's own derivation index (closes #510)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
Sending, site transactions, site signatures and private key export
derived the key at the address's position in the wallet's list. After
an import whose scan passed over an unused index, or after removing an
address that was not the last, that position named another address's
key.

Each HD and xprv address record now stores the index it was derived at
(at wallet creation, by the import scan, by "+"). getSignerForAddress()
derives at that index, refuses a record without one, and refuses any key
whose address differs from the record's. The confirmation screen signs
as the From address it shows, not the selected one. The export screen
reports a refusal instead of calling the password wrong.

check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
The element holding the address on the connection prompt was a flex row,
so the title line and the address that renderAddressHtml() returns sat
side by side and the address got only the width left over, which hid its
last nine characters. It is now a plain block, as on the signature
screen, so the address has a row of its own. The Chrome browser suite's
connection test now measures that row with the check the other screens
already use.

check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
ethers signs only the fields a type declares and drops any other key, but
the Message section listed every key the site sent, so an added key read
as signed. The Message section now follows the signed type, at every level
of nesting and in the type's order. Typed data with other keys is not
refused: those keys are listed after the message under "Not part of the
signature", by their place in the message. README SignApproval says so.
The operator/spender test now also checks the Message section, and new
tests cover an added key in a nested struct and in a list item.

check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s

The screen decoded a transaction's data against the history entry's `to`,
which for a token transfer row is the transfer's recipient. The decoded
Token line named the recipient, and the amount read "decimals unknown" for
a token the wallet tracks. It now decodes against the address the
explorer's answer for that transaction says it was sent to, which is the
right address for every kind of row. tests/tokenTransferDetail.test.js
opens a row made by the real history parser and checks the Token,
Recipient and Amount lines.

clawbot 00d1fecc36 fix: eth_sign's warning and the README say what it signs (closes #409)
check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
eth_sign is signed as an EIP-191 personal message over its data, which is
what the Ethereum JSON-RPC specification defines it to return. Its warning
on the signature prompt said the site was asking to sign a raw hash that
could drain funds, and the README said the same; neither was true. The
warning now says the site used the older eth_sign method and that the data
will be signed as a personal message, and the README's SignApproval section
says so too. Tests pin that the background reads eth_sign address first and
data second, and that the sign screen answers it with the personal message
signature over the data.

check / check (push) Canceled after 0s

Settings is reachable from the confirmation screen, and Back from it only
unhides the screen as it was drawn. Sign & Send took the network at the
click, so a transfer reviewed on Sepolia went out on mainnet after a switch
in between. show() now records the chain id of the network it draws for.
Sign & Send refuses with a message on the screen when the active network
differs, and the send carries that chain id, so ethers will not populate it
for a provider on any other network.

Sites send the gas limit under its JSON-RPC name, `gas`. ethers only

limit, and the existing ceiling, display and comparison with the signed
transaction cover it as they already did `gasLimit`. A request that
gives both with different values is refused.

The notice told the user that these addresses are reachable by software

or with the master extended private key or recovery phrase it came
from. No behaviour changes. A test checks the new wording.

EIP-712 has a wallet refuse typed data whose domain chainId is not the
active chain, because the signature is valid on the chain it names. The

and Sign disabled, the same way it refuses a mismatched primary type.
The background checks again when the signature comes back, against the
network active then, and answers the site with that refusal instead of
the signature. A chain id is read as ethers signs it, so 1, "1" and
"0x1" are one chain. Typed data with no chainId signs as before.

The injected provider's flag named after the other wallet stays, as an

pops its target. Jest tests drive the gear and then Back for the
recovery phrase screen, once and twice over, for both delete screens,

check / check (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Canceled after 0s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Canceled after 0s
Leaving the delete wallet or lost-password screen drops its wallet
selection, but the settings gear had just pushed the screen onto the Back
stack, so Back from Settings showed a screen whose button could only
answer "No wallet selected for deletion." Each screen's leave handler now
also takes it off the top of the stack, as the private key export and
recovery phrase screens do since
#461. Back from Settings then
stays on Settings once, as it does for the recovery phrase screen.

Jest tests drive the gear and then Back on both screens, and the delete
screen's own Back.

Leaving the private key export or recovery phrase screen drops the
selection it was showing, but the settings gear had just pushed the
screen onto the Back stack, so Back from Settings landed on a password
prompt that could only fail. Each screen's leave handler now also takes
it off the top of the stack, which is what a reopened popup already does
to these screens. Back from Settings goes to the address screen for the
export screen; for the recovery phrase screen, opened from Settings, it
stays on Settings once, as after a reopen.

Jest tests drive the gear and then Back, and each screen's own Back, for
both screens; leavePrivkeyScreen() in the e2e suite expects the address
screen.

The transaction lists and ENS name lookups on the address and token
screens, the address scan after a wallet is created, the endpoint checks
in Settings, the wait screen's receipt check, the Send screen's Max fee
estimate and the token lookup on both add-token screens now check the
signal the popup aborts on pagehide before reporting a failed request.
scanForAddresses(), resolveEnsNames() and lookupTokenInfo() take the
signal.

End-to-end tests reload the popup on the address screen and during the
address scan with their requests held. Jest tests show each of these
reports a real failure and stays silent once the popup has closed. The
transaction detail and confirmation screens are left out: they discard
the popup context that carries the signal.

show() found the address line through the element inside it, then
replaced the line's contents with renderAddressHtml(), which deleted
that element, so the next show() in the same popup session threw
before it navigated. The line now carries the export-privkey-address
id itself and is looked up by it. No other view that renders an
address finds its container through a child.

The jest DOM stub now takes an element out of the document when its
parent's contents are replaced, and a new test opens the screen
twice. The #253 e2e case no longer reopens the popup before its
second open.

Chrome cancels a closing popup's open requests just after pagehide, and in
the page a cancelled fetch() fails with the same "Failed to fetch" as a
server that cannot be reached. The home screen's transaction list and the
balance refresh logged an error for each, and the e2e suite failed on them.

The popup now aborts an AbortController on pagehide, and those failure
reports check its signal first. End-to-end tests reload the popup with
Blockscout held and require nothing logged, and fail the transaction list
for real and require the failure reported; a unit test covers the balance
refresh. The address and token screens and the new-wallet address scan are
#475.

clawbot e590b83df0 harden: drop 'unsafe-inline' from style-src (closes #328)
check / check (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Failing after 2s
The popup's markup no longer carries style attributes. The 42 in
index.html and in the HTML the view helpers build are now Tailwind
classes, each computing to the value it replaced, so style-src is 'self'
in both manifests, pinned in tests/manifest.test.js.

The address dot's 16 colours are written out as whole classes, because
Tailwind builds only the classes it finds in the source. The Settings
debug well is shown and hidden with the hidden class, since clearing an
inline display no longer uncovers it. Two tests that found the colour dot
by its inline style now find it by its class. Script that sets
element.style is unaffected.

clawbot 5d26283cd0 test: cover every control that refuses a defective wallet (closes #254)
check / check (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 2s

Each control that leads to a signature or to the private key now has a
test that it refuses a defective wallet before decrypting anything: Send
on the main, address and token screens, Export Private Key, and both
approval screens, as drawn and as clicked.

Send on the confirmation screen had no such check. The Send buttons
stand in front of it, but the popup reopens onto it from a saved view,
so it now refuses the same way.

The comments that said the wallet's key cannot be derived now say that
getSignerForAddress refuses it, and the walletDefects module comment
names both earlier import paths.

clawbot eec3e23099 chore: escape every value the views write as markup, and cut symbols on code points (closes #329)
check / check (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 2s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Failing after 2s
The token screen's decimals and holder count, the ETH price, every address
total and each balance row's USD value went into innerHTML unescaped, against
the rule at the top of src/popup/views/helpers.js. They are escaped now. None
could carry markup, but formatUsd() writes a value under a cent as "< $0.01".

displaySymbol() counts a symbol in code points, not UTF-16 units, so the cut
never leaves half of an emoji, which rendered as U+FFFD.

explorerLink() was already removed on next.

clawbot 83b169d991 fix: Chrome draws the popup in its monospace font (closes #418)
check / check (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Failing after 2s
Chrome adds a stylesheet of its own to extension pages that sets the font
on body. Tailwind 4 puts its classes in a cascade layer, and a rule outside
any layer wins over them, so font-mono lost and Chrome drew the popup in
the system font. body now carries font-mono!, which marks the class
important. Both end-to-end suites check the popup's font.

The same stylesheet also makes Chrome draw the popup's text at 12px rather
than text-sm's 14px; that is unchanged here and filed as issue 456.

check / check (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 2s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Failing after 2s
AddressDetail and AddressToken defined their own isoDate() and
timeAgo(), hiding the shared pair in helpers.js, so a fix there would
not have reached them. The copies were identical and are deleted;
blockieHtml() and tokenLabel(), each defined twice, move to helpers.js.
A new test shows the history rows and the transaction detail view
write the time with the shared pair.

Deleted as never called: explorerLink(), ETHEREUM_SEPOLIA_CHAIN_ID,
getWalletValue() and getTotalValue() with their tests. Home's "Total:"
is the active address's total, as README.md already says.
addressColor() and etherscanAddressUrl() are no longer exported.

check / check (push) Failing after 2s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 2s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Failing after 2s
The background centred each approval window on the last focused window,
which could be an earlier approval window still open; headless Chrome
reports one as 1280x720, the browser refused the resulting position, and
the request failed with no window. It now centres only on a browser
window, and when the browser refuses a position it asks again without one.

In the Chrome suite a test could raise its prompt while the previous
test's window was still closing. After a passed test the runner now gives
approval windows five seconds to close and fails the test if one is still
open; after a failed test it closes them.

check / check (push) Failing after 3s

Max fills in a token's balance, cut down to the 18 decimal places the
confirmation screen accepts, or for ETH the exact balance minus the fee
reserve the confirmation screen's balance check gates on. An ETH fee estimate
that finishes after the Send screen was left, or its address, holding,
recipient or amount changed, fills nothing in. The confirmation screen works a
max ETH amount out again from its own fee estimate and signs it with that
estimate's fee fields, so a fee that rose before signing cannot push amount
plus fee above the balance. validateTransfer() still gates every send, the
check that ETH covers a token send's fee included. Where there is nothing to
fill in, a flash message says why.

clawbot 6a86b726d2 fix: a change made while an earlier save is running is stored (closes #448)
check / check (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 2s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Failing after 3s
saveStateOnce() took its baseline from the page's state after the write, so
a change made while the save waited on storage counted as already stored and
the save queued after it wrote nothing. A setting changed during the read was
lost, and so was a wallet added, a site revoked or an endpoint changed during
the write. The save now copies the page's fields when it starts, writes from
that copy, and keeps the copy as the baseline, so anything changed after the
copy is still a difference for the next save.

check / check (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 3s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Failing after 3s
When a site-connection prompt was decided before the toolbar popup raised
for it had loaded, that popup was torn down, chrome.action.openPopup()
rejected, and the background opened its fallback window for the answered
approval and only then removed it. In the Chrome end-to-end suite the next
test could take that window for its own prompt and lose it under its wait.
openApprovalWindow() now returns before creating a window when the approval
is no longer pending.

The blocklist test clicked its self-closing Reject with a plain click; it
now clicks it as the other site Reject does, with the click witnessed.
README.md and the e2e workflow comment no longer name this issue as what
keeps e2e-chrome from being a required check.

A wallet named only with spaces compared equal to an empty field, so

made the name impossible to type back.

An empty typed confirmation is now refused whatever the name is. The
characters src/shared/symbolSpoof.js already defines as painting nothing
are removed from both sides before comparing. A name that shows nothing
at all is shown on the delete screens as "Wallet N", so it can still be
typed back.

check / check (push) Failing after 2s

parseHoldersCount used parseInt, which reads "1,000" as 1, "0x10" as 0 and
"1e3" as 1: a reported low count, which hides the token in the transaction
history and the send-screen token selector. It now accepts only a whole
number of zero or more, or a string of digits alone, no larger than
Number.MAX_SAFE_INTEGER, and returns null for anything else. The balance
list's holders !== null check did nothing, since null >= 1000 is already
false, and is dropped. README.md and docs/README.md say how each filter
treats an unknown count and that the token screen then leaves out its
Holders row; README.md lists src/shared/holders.js.

check / check (push) Failing after 2s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Failing after 1s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Failing after 1s
networks.js gives each network a nativeCurrency (ETH, SepoliaETH) and nothing
read it: every screen wrote ETH. The wallet's balances and the Send and
confirmation screens now use the active network's. A transaction's figures use
the network its chain id names, through nativeCurrencyByChainId(): the
approval value and fee, the wait, success and error screens, history entries,
the detail screen and the fee-limit refusal, so a site switching networks
cannot make one read as another network's coin. The "ETH" that selectedToken
and txInfo.token hold is the native token's id and is unchanged. A token
reporting any network's nativeCurrency is a spoof, and the detail screen calls
an entry a token transfer when it has a token contract.
