82425496cb fix: version the stored profile, and give a record that cannot be read a way out (closes #311)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 33s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Successful in 1m46s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Successful in 33s
The stored profile carried no version, so nothing could tell a record this build wrote from one a later build did, and loadState() coerced scalars while trusting the structure. A wallets that was a string, an array of nulls, or a later schema's wallet records reached the popup and threw on the first dereference: no view, no message, no control, and every dApp call answering a generic -32603 because getActiveAddress() dereferenced the same record. There was no reset or wipe control anywhere in the product, so the only escape was clearing extension storage through browser internals.

saveState() and updateState() now both stamp STATE_SCHEMA_VERSION, and every read goes through assertStateUsable() on the raw bytes before normalization can paper over them. Version 1 is the shape that shipped unversioned, so the profile every existing install holds loads normally and is migrated in place by being stamped on the first write; an upgrade shows nobody a wipe prompt for a wallet that is fine. A record this build cannot vouch for is refused instead, and refused all the way: not normalized, not written back, not half-loaded, and not overwritten by a save either.

The gate covers what nothing downstream can floor. Everything else is normalizePersisted()'s job, and three separate gaps there let a gate-accepted record reach a dereference and blank the popup anyway. trackedTokens and activeAddress were floored on truthiness rather than on type: trackedTokens: "nope" rendered nothing with "Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'toLowerCase')", activeAddress: 42 rendered nothing with "address.slice is not a function". A container check is not enough either, because [1, 2] IS a list and the dereference is t.address.toLowerCase() one level below the Array.isArray(): [1,2], [null], [{}], [{address:42}] and ["0xAA..."] each still rendered nothing. And each address's tokenBalances had no floor at all — which matters most, since refreshBalances() writes that field wholesale and the partial write the issue names as the live cause of a corrupt record lands exactly there — so "x", 42, [null] and [42] rendered nothing too. All of them are type-checked now, container AND entries: an entry that is not a record with a text address is dropped, the well-formed entries beside it survive, and an empty list is still a legitimate value. activeAddress's empty string now floors to null rather than surviving, because init() auto-selects the first address only on a strict null, so a kept "" would leave the popup with no address ever selected; that restores what the || null this check replaced already did.

The header of stateSchema.js claimed every non-gated field's floor was a type check. It is not, and now it says so field by field: rpcUrl, blockscoutUrl, lastBalanceRefresh, fraudContracts, tokenHolderCache, theme, currentView, selectedToken and viewData are saved.x || default; every boolean flag, dustThresholdGwei, selectedWallet and selectedAddress are taken verbatim when present; allowedSites and deniedSites are checked as containers only, never per entry. The header and the README now list which field is in which category rather than asserting a rule the module does not follow.

The popup shows a new StateRecovery screen. It names the problem in a sentence, exports the stored record into a text box on the page with no normalization or repair on it (and downloads it where the browser allows), and offers an erase behind a typed ERASE MY WALLET. Both controls are required: an export with no reset leaves the user stuck, and a reset with no export destroys the only copy of possibly recoverable key material. The Settings gear is hidden while it is up, and showView() is not used to raise it, because both read the state singleton that by then refuses to be read. The export is JSON.stringify of the deserialized record, so what JSON cannot carry is stated where the export is written: a cycle or a BigInt throws and fails the export entirely, and a Date, a Map, a Set, an undefined property or a NaN is mangled silently instead, which is the worse residual because the box then looks complete.

The background refuses the same record and answers dApps -32007 with a message saying the saved data cannot be read and that nothing was signed or sent, rather than the -32603 it also answers when a signing attempt breaks. EIP-1474 sets aside -32000..-32099 for implementation-defined server errors but assigns meanings to -32000 through -32006, including -32001 "Resource not found" and the -32002 "Resource unavailable" this wallet already uses for a pending approval; -32007..-32099 are the unassigned ones, and a test pins the code against that table.

networkById() now throws on an id it does not know instead of quietly answering mainnet, which also stops NETWORKS["constructor"] resolving off the prototype chain. Every key test in the gate is an own-property test, because networkId is an object key into networkEndpoints and an unvalidated "__proto__" set that map's prototype instead of an own key, dropping the user's endpoint silently; normalizePersisted() copies endpoint entries with defineProperty for the same reason. That own-property discipline is the gate's alone — normalizePersisted() reads the same fields plainly, and the two agree only because a record from storage has been through structuredClone and carries Object.prototype.

The three corrupt blobs from the issue drive the real popup entry point and the real worker in tests; each rendered nothing at all and answered -32603 before this, and the unversioned-but-valid case is tested too. Every corrupt-field shape that has ever been observed to blank the popup is a row in tests/stateRecovery.test.js, measured through the same entry point; none has been removed. Three test files used fixture wallets the product cannot produce (a bare address string where an address record belongs, a wallet with no address list) and now use whole records. src/popup/restorableViews.js moved to src/shared/restorableViews.js, since persistedState.js requires it and that module is in the background bundle.

20e911059a fix: give a wallet whose password is lost a way out, and say the password cannot be reset (closes #312)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 31s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Successful in 1m10s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Successful in 23s
A user who forgot their password but held their recovery phrase was permanently
locked out: deletion was password-gated and re-importing the phrase was refused
as a duplicate. Their only escape was destroying extension storage through
browser internals, taking every other wallet with it.

DeleteWallet gains an "I have lost my password" route that destroys the stored
secret after the wallet's name is typed back. No password gate was added:
requiring one to discard a secret protects nothing, since an attacker who wants
destruction can uninstall the extension, and the only person it stops is the
legitimate user who lost it. The screen is excluded from RESTORABLE_VIEWS and
registers an onViewLeave cleanup.

Deletion was chosen over re-import because a key wallet is duplicate-checked by
address rather than xpub, so an xpub-only relaxation would leave that user
still wedged; because re-import makes the user retype their recovery phrase
into a live popup merely to change a password; and because it reaches no end
state that delete-then-import plus scanForAddresses() does not. The attacker
argument did not decide it — re-import clears the "no worse than the phrase
alone" bar.

All three AddWallet password hints now state the password cannot be recovered
or reset and name that mode's only backup, the xprv mode correctly claiming no
recovery phrase. deleteAddress.js no longer tells the user that deleting a
wallet asks for a password, which this change made false.

The typed confirmation collapses internal whitespace on both sides: a wallet
renamed with two spaces displays with one, so the string a user could see and
type could never match, making the confirmation untypable on the one screen
whose purpose is un-wedging a stuck user.

Measured, not reasoned, after review found the first reserve twice too large
and pushing the Import button below the fold: #btn-add-wallet-confirm bottom
628.13 -> 580.13 at 360x600, scrollHeight 636 -> 600, hint box 48px identical

918e581ef3 harden: verify the signed transaction against what the popup displayed (closes #216)
Some checks failed
check / check (push) Has been cancelled
Verification compared the signed artifact against the dApp's request object.
For every field the dApp omitted -- normally nonce, gas limit and all the fee
fields, since the popup filled them in -- the number the user actually read on
screen was verified by nothing, and only absolute ceilings stood behind it.

The transaction is now populated in the background before the approval window
opens, and that populated object is both what the popup displays and what the
signed artifact is verified against. Every consequential field becomes an
equality comparison; the ceilings remain as a backstop. Population failing
means no approval and no window, and the error goes to the requesting page --
earlier than before, where the same estimate failed after the password had been
typed.

The account is pinned too: `from` is compared against the address named at
approval time rather than whichever address is active at signing, so switching
accounts mid-flow refuses instead of signing from an account the approval did
not name. The message-signing path had the same defect and gets the same fix.

Nonce selection moves earlier as a consequence; the concurrent-approval case
that follows from it is tracked at #271.

937f699fb1 feat: remove an address from an HD wallet, behind a confirmation (closes #162)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 36s
Address rows on Home gain an [x] control, on wallets that derive addresses from
an extended key and hold more than one, opening a DeleteAddress confirmation
screen.

Removal cannot destroy anything: the key material stays. Derivation indices are
not renumbered, so the next "+" derives the next unused index rather than
resurrecting the removed one. The confirmation states the real route back --
delete the whole wallet in Settings, which asks for the password and destroys
the stored recovery phrase, then import it again -- and notes that the scan
which follows only finds addresses with on-chain activity. The copy varies by
wallet type, since an xprv wallet has no recovery phrase.

Removing an address that holds a balance is allowed, with a warning naming no
figure; the funds are at the address on-chain and stay there either way.
Selection and active address move only when the removed address was the one
selected, and site permissions are dropped for it alone.

The state transition shares its address comparison, permission cleanup and
active-changed broadcast with the wallet-level removal.

23aeae4841 feat: add About well to settings with build info and debug easter egg (#145)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 22s
## Summary

Add a new well at the bottom of the settings view displaying application info (license, author, version, build date, git commit hash linked to Gitea), and an easter egg that reveals a debug mode toggle after clicking the version number 10 times.

## Changes

- **`src/popup/index.html`**: Added About well with license, author, version, build date, and linked commit hash. Added hidden debug well with debug mode toggle.
- **`src/popup/views/settings.js`**: Populate About well from build-time constants. Implement version click counter (10 clicks reveals debug well). Wire up debug mode toggle to state and runtime logger.
- **`src/shared/buildInfo.js`** (new): Module exporting build-time constants (`BUILD_VERSION`, `BUILD_LICENSE`, `BUILD_AUTHOR`, `BUILD_COMMIT`, `BUILD_DATE`, `GITEA_COMMIT_URL`) injected by esbuild define.
- **`build.js`**: Read git commit hash (short + full) and version from package.json, pass as esbuild `define` constants. Also reads `GIT_COMMIT_SHORT`/`GIT_COMMIT_FULL` env vars for Docker builds.
- **`Dockerfile`**: Accept `GIT_COMMIT_SHORT` and `GIT_COMMIT_FULL` build args, set as env vars for the build step.
- **`Makefile`**: Pass git commit hashes as Docker build args.
- **`src/shared/state.js`**: Add `debugMode` boolean to state (persisted).
- **`src/shared/log.js`**: Add runtime debug flag that supplements the compile-time `DEBUG` constant. Debug mode toggle updates this flag immediately.

e53420f2e2 feat: add Sepolia testnet support (#137)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 9s
## Summary

Adds Sepolia testnet support to AutistMask.

### Changes

- **New `src/shared/networks.js`** — centralized network definitions (mainnet + Sepolia) with chain IDs, default RPC/Blockscout endpoints, and block explorer URLs
- **State management** — `networkId` added to persisted state; defaults to mainnet for backward compatibility
- **Settings UI** — network selector dropdown lets users switch between Ethereum Mainnet and Sepolia Testnet
- **Dynamic explorer links** — all hardcoded `etherscan.io` URLs replaced with dynamic links from the current network config (`sepolia.etherscan.io` for Sepolia)
- **Background service** — `wallet_switchEthereumChain` now accepts both mainnet (0x1) and Sepolia (0xaa36a7); broadcasts `chainChanged` to connected dApps
- **Inpage provider** — fetches chain ID on init and updates dynamically via `chainChanged` events (no more hardcoded `0x1`)
- **Blockscout API** — uses `eth-sepolia.blockscout.com/api/v2` for Sepolia
- **Etherscan labels** — phishing/scam checks use the correct explorer per network
- **Price fetching** — skipped on testnets (testnet tokens have no real market value)
- **RPC validation** — checks against the selected network's chain ID, not hardcoded mainnet
- **ethers provider** — `getProvider()` uses the correct ethers `Network` for Sepolia

### API Endpoints Verified

| Service | Mainnet | Sepolia |
|---------|---------|--------|
| Etherscan | etherscan.io | sepolia.etherscan.io |
| Blockscout | eth.blockscout.com/api/v2 | eth-sepolia.blockscout.com/api/v2 |
| RPC | ethereum-rpc.publicnode.com | ethereum-sepolia-rpc.publicnode.com |
| CoinDesk (prices) | | N/A (skipped on testnet) |

d35bfb7d23 feat: expand confirm-tx warnings — closes #114 (#118)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 5s
Expands the confirm-tx warning system with three new warning types, all using the existing `visibility:hidden/visible` pattern from PR #98 (no animations, no layout shift).

## Changes

1. **Scam address list expanded** (7 → 652 addresses): Sourced from [MyEtherWallet/ethereum-lists](https://github.com/MyEtherWallet/ethereum-lists) darklist (MIT license). Checked synchronously before sending.

2. **Contract address warning**: When the recipient is a smart contract (detected via `getCode`), shows a warning that sending directly to a contract may result in permanent loss of funds.

3. **Null/burn address warning**: Detects known burn addresses (`0x0000...0000`, `0x...dead`, `0x...deadbeef`) and warns that funds are permanently destroyed.

4. **No-history warning** (existing from #98): Unchanged, still shows for EOAs with zero transaction history.

All warnings use reserved-space `visibility:hidden/visible` elements — no layout shift, no animations.

Merge all three wallet import methods (recovery phrase, private key,
extended key/xprv) into one tabbed add-wallet view with a mode selector.
This fixes the blank import-xprv render (it was missing from the VIEWS

- Share password fields across all modes
- Remove separate import-key and import-xprv views and modules
- Add duplicate wallet detection for private key imports
- All tabs follow affordance policy (visible border + hover state)

approve-sign-error divs to prevent layout shift, matching the pattern
used by modal-password-error in confirm-tx view.

Replace direct DOM classList manipulation with showError()/hideError()
helpers from helpers.js for consistency.

a2fbb0e30d fix: use formatAddressHtml in receive view for display consistency
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 22s
The receive view was using raw textContent and a manually constructed
color dot instead of the shared formatAddressHtml helper used by other
views. This violated the display consistency policy ('Same data
formatted identically across all screens').

Changes:
- Use formatAddressHtml() to render address with color dot, title
  (e.g. 'Wallet 1 — Address 1'), and ENS name — matching addressDetail
- Make the address block itself click-to-copy (matching policy:
'Clicking any address copies the full untruncated value')
- Replace separate receive-dot/receive-address spans with a single
  receive-address-block element
- Address is still shown in full (no truncation) as appropriate for
  the receive view

9981be6986 fix: show decoded swap details on success-tx view (closes #63)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 22s
Carry decoded calldata info (action name, description, token details,
amounts, addresses) from the approval confirmation view through to the
success-tx view. For swap transactions, this now shows the same decoded
details (protocol, action, token symbols, amounts) that appeared on the
signing confirmation screen.

Changes:
- approval.js: store decoded calldata in pendingTxDetails.decoded
- txStatus.js: carry decoded through state.viewData, render in success view
- index.html: add success-tx-decoded container element

71ef08fe85 fix: address all 3 violations from #59
1. Protocol name now has Etherscan link (was appearing clickable but wasn't)
2. Token contract addresses: symbol shown separately, then color dot +
full address + Etherscan link (symbol no longer interposed)
3. Raw data section moved after transaction hash (no longer pushes
   useful info off screen)

3daba279d2 style: rework overflow menu to look like menu items, not buttons

check / check (push) Successful in 21s
- Menu items now use text-xs font-light for smaller, lighter type
that's clearly distinct from the pushbuttons in the action row
- The ··· button stays visually inverted (bg-fg text-bg) while the
dropdown menu is open, reverting when closed
- Menu items styled as plain text rows with subtle hover background,
  no borders or button-like appearance

Some checks are pending
check / check (push) Waiting to run
Replace the muted text link at the bottom of AddressDetail with a
'···' overflow/more button in the action button row. Clicking it
opens a dropdown with 'Export Private Key' as an option. Clicking
outside closes the dropdown. The pattern is reusable for future
secondary actions.

41794f8bf5 fix: make export key a subtle link, add view to VIEWS array
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 22s
- Moved 'Export private key' from prominent button row to a small
muted text link at the bottom of the address detail view
- Added 'export-privkey' to the VIEWS array in helpers.js — this was
the cause of the blank view (showView toggled all known views but
didn't know about export-privkey, so it was never unhidden)
