.gitea/workflows/check.yml is re-vendored byte for byte from the canonical copy in sneak/prompts at 0653579 (065357920a). Its checkout step sets fetch-depth: 0, so the CI clone has all history and tags, and git describe in script/cibuild gives the image built from a tagged commit the tag as its version instead of the short commit.
The same copy brings three other changes with it: the checkout sets persist-credentials: false, so the job's token is not left in .git/config (script/cibuild needs none); a concurrency block cancels the older run on the same branch when a new push arrives; and the job stops after 20 minutes.
The TODO.md Status sentence about the workflow now says it cancels the older run. README.md has no sentence about the workflow. The canonical copy already has fetch-depth: 0, so nothing goes to sneak/prompts#78.
Unverified: the tag as the image version on a CI run of a tagged commit was not seen, only read from the workflow.
Judgement call: TODO.md Status still says the repo has no git tags; that sentence is not about the workflow, so it is left as it is.
