sneak 444bc30f2c Decompose ringOn and totalWinner (refactor step 7)
ringOn gains pickRingHand and chooseTerse messages; totalWinner's
appraisal switch becomes objectWorth with loreWorth/ringWorth/
wandWorth. Behavior unchanged.
