The canonical scripts at next (430964c) carry comments that are not true of every repository that takes them:
script/lint: "The phase is not the last stage in the file, so it is built only when --target names it." script/test says the same: "a phase that is not the last stage is built only when named". The last stage of the canonical Dockerfile copies a file from lint and from test, so a plain docker build builds both phases as well.
script/bootstrap: "the Dockerfile stages start from a node 22 alpine image". That holds for this repository's own Dockerfile. A Go repository's stages start from the golangci-lint and Go images.
Found in the cattbox re-vendor review, sneak/cattbox#56 (comment). That PR keeps its copies unchanged and would take the fix at its next re-vendor.

Each comment is true of every repository that takes the script, or is removed.
Every copy of those scripts in this repository stays byte-identical.

The canonical scripts at `next` (`430964c`) carry comments that are not true of every repository that takes them:
- `script/lint`: "The phase is not the last stage in the file, so it is built only when --target names it." `script/test` says the same: "a phase that is not the last stage is built only when named". The last stage of the canonical `Dockerfile` copies a file from `lint` and from `test`, so a plain `docker build` builds both phases as well.
- `script/bootstrap`: "the Dockerfile stages start from a node 22 alpine image". That holds for this repository's own `Dockerfile`. A Go repository's stages start from the golangci-lint and Go images.
