6b156b32ec fix: store an absent explorer decimals as unknown instead of fabricating 18 (closes #349)

fetchTokenBalances() did parseInt(item.token.decimals || "18", 10) before writing to state.wallets[].addresses[].tokenBalances[].decimals, so a token whose decimals() reverts -- one the block explorer reports no scale for -- was stored with a fabricated 18 that no reader could tell from a real one.

That is upstream of a rule already merged. #306 made the ERC-20 approval amount line resolve the real scale or refuse to format, and #340 extended it to the swap lines; both read this stored value as an authoritative source, so the guess walked straight past refusals that were intact and simply never fired. A 1,000-unit approval of such a token rendered 0.000000001 on the one screen whose job is to state what is being authorized.

The stored value is now the explorer's own answer or null, never a default. Both approval paths reach unknownDecimalsAmount() on a null, using the refusal that was already there. The history list's token transfers carried the same || "18" and now state exact base units with the scale unknown rather than a quantity at a guessed one.

A holding whose scale nothing knows has no quantity either, so its balance is stored as null -- unknown, never zero -- and the balance list, the address USD total, the Send screen and the confirmation screen each say so rather than printing 0.0000 for money that is really there. The zero-balance filter moved onto the base-unit integer, where it needs no scale at all. The bundled token list and the user's tracked tokens already outrank the explorer, so a token either of them knows still displays its real quantity when the explorer's entry omits decimals; only what none of the three knows is unknown.

Which makes the stored field the explorer's answer alone, and NOT the scale a screen renders at. Those are two questions, and every screen that needs the second one asks resolveTokenDecimals(). The Send screen did not: it read tokenBalances[].decimals raw and carried it onto the pending transaction, so a bundled or tracked token whose explorer row omits decimals reached displayedDecimals(null) inside estimateGas(). That throws, is caught as an unavailable fee, and disables Send behind "The network fee could not be estimated ... Please go back and try again" -- untrue, unactionable, and for a token such as WETH whose scale was never in doubt. The balance and the amount on the same screen were correct throughout, and validateTransfer() had nothing to object to, so nothing named the real reason. Before this change the fabricated 18 happened to be that token's real scale and the send completed, so this is a capability regression and not an inherited one. Send now resolves the scale through resolveTokenDecimals(), with no fallback.

The two resolutions are deliberately not identical, and where they differ the balance follows the scale. balances.js resolves without wallets, because it is formatting one explorer row during a fetch that is about to replace the very state it would be consulting; its explorer leg is therefore that row's own value. send.js resolves with wallets, which adds explorerDecimals()'s cross-address check, so a contract two addresses report different scales for answers null rather than picking one -- a check that must apply to a value which goes on to encode a transfer. For a token neither bundled nor tracked whose explorer rows disagree, that leaves a stored quantity computed at a scale Send has just refused. Stating it would leave validateTransfer() checking the amount against a number the wallet does not vouch for, and, since the unknown-balance path is gated on the balance rather than on the scale, would again leave the fee-estimate failure as the only thing on the confirmation screen. So Send withdraws the stored quantity along with the scale: an unknown scale is an unknown balance. Only a stored quantity is withdrawn -- the "0" for a token with no row at all is an absence of holdings, which is true at every scale.

The uint8 check is one shared toDecimals() rather than three copies of it, and it answers 0 for a real scale of zero: || "18" collapsed that to eighteen, the falsy-collapse trap of #246.

The reader half is asserted, not just the writer half. Each of the six sites that now distinguishes an unknown quantity from a zero one -- balanceLine(), balanceLinesForAddress(), addressHoldsFunds(), getAddressValue()'s partial flag, the Send balance line and the confirmation screen's balance and insufficient-balance wording -- is tested on the PAIR, because an assertion about null alone still passes on a build that renders both as zero. The Send and confirmation cases run the real explorer response through the real fetcher, the real review handler and the real confirmation screen, so they show which of the two scale questions each screen is asking, including a two-address fixture whose explorer rows report 6 and 18 for one contract.

Existing installs hold 18s that cannot be told apart retroactively -- that is the defect, and no migration can undo it. They display exactly as they do today until the next balance refresh, which rewrites tokenBalances wholesale and needs no user action. The schema version is not bumped: version 1 records stay valid and are read exactly as before.

No || 18 or ?? 18 fallback remains anywhere in src/. The literal 18s that do remain are real data rather than defaults: 432 per-token decimals: 18 entries in the bundled src/shared/tokenList.js, and, outside that file, only native ETH's protocol-defined scale in src/shared/uniswap.js and the fixed-point comparison scale in src/shared/txValidation.js.

bd0a626e7b harden: stop the background reading the shared state singleton, and enforce it at build time (closes #324)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 33s
e2e / e2e-chrome (push) Successful in 1m45s
e2e / e2e-firefox (push) Successful in 31s
Five defects, one of which destroyed every wallet, came from src/background reading and writing the module-level state singleton the MV3 worker never populates, which silently served DEFAULT_STATE. Each point fix created the next defect. The background now has its own per-call getState() and a queued read-modify-write updateState(); the singleton is unreachable from it, and an unpopulated read throws instead of serving defaults.

The prohibition is enforced by the build, not by review: build.js asserts over esbuild's own metafile that no forbidden module is an input of a background bundle, so every specifier syntax esbuild resolves is covered, and both halves of the table are checked for rot -- a stale key, a stale module, an empty list, or an unlisted entry point under src/background/ all fail the build. The ESLint rule remains as fast local feedback and reads the same shared table. Known bounds are documented where the table lives.

Also closes #320: getProvider() now requires a validated network id, so a cold worker no longer prepares a non-mainnet dApp transaction for mainnet and gets refused by the wallet's own verifier. backgroundRefresh() no longer mutates address objects across a network round trip, the broadcast path takes its endpoint and chain id from one snapshot, and eight test storage stubs now structured-clone on get as the real chrome.storage.local does.

e4c3708b84 fix: fold invisible characters before the known-symbol spoof check (closes #260)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 36s
A token calling itself " ETH " missed the known-symbol table entirely, so the
spoof check reported it was not a spoof -- while HTML collapsed the whitespace
and displayed it as ETH next to the user's real ETH. One space defeated the
filter.

The symbol is now folded before the lookup: NFKC, remove what paints nothing,
trim, uppercase. The rule is "remove what paints nothing"; the Unicode classes
are how that is spelled, which is why U+007F is named separately -- it is a
control, reached by no class, and measures identical to no character at all.

Every width in the module comment was measured in the pinned browser rather
than reasoned about, and the boundary is pinned from both sides: widening to
all control characters fails the visible-controls test, narrowing back fails
the invisible-characters test. Two default-ignorable code points do paint a
box and are folded anyway, which can only hide a token that does not resemble
the symbol it folds to -- the harmless direction, recorded rather than glossed.

Confusables that are distinct letters, bidi reordering and interior whitespace
are knowingly left open and asserted open by tests.

e53420f2e2 feat: add Sepolia testnet support (#137)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 9s
## Summary

Adds Sepolia testnet support to AutistMask.

### Changes

- **New `src/shared/networks.js`** — centralized network definitions (mainnet + Sepolia) with chain IDs, default RPC/Blockscout endpoints, and block explorer URLs
- **State management** — `networkId` added to persisted state; defaults to mainnet for backward compatibility
- **Settings UI** — network selector dropdown lets users switch between Ethereum Mainnet and Sepolia Testnet
- **Dynamic explorer links** — all hardcoded `etherscan.io` URLs replaced with dynamic links from the current network config (`sepolia.etherscan.io` for Sepolia)
- **Background service** — `wallet_switchEthereumChain` now accepts both mainnet (0x1) and Sepolia (0xaa36a7); broadcasts `chainChanged` to connected dApps
- **Inpage provider** — fetches chain ID on init and updates dynamically via `chainChanged` events (no more hardcoded `0x1`)
- **Blockscout API** — uses `eth-sepolia.blockscout.com/api/v2` for Sepolia
- **Etherscan labels** — phishing/scam checks use the correct explorer per network
- **Price fetching** — skipped on testnets (testnet tokens have no real market value)
- **RPC validation** — checks against the selected network's chain ID, not hardcoded mainnet
- **ethers provider** — `getProvider()` uses the correct ethers `Network` for Sepolia

### API Endpoints Verified

| Service | Mainnet | Sepolia |
|---------|---------|--------|
| Etherscan | etherscan.io | sepolia.etherscan.io |
| Blockscout | eth.blockscout.com/api/v2 | eth-sepolia.blockscout.com/api/v2 |
| RPC | ethereum-rpc.publicnode.com | ethereum-sepolia-rpc.publicnode.com |
| CoinDesk (prices) | | N/A (skipped on testnet) |

173d75c57a fix: fall back to known token list for symbol/name/decimals
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 22s
When a token's balance entry is missing or incomplete (e.g. not yet
fetched from Blockscout), the address-token view and send view now
fall back to the built-in known token list for symbol, name, and
decimals instead of showing '?'.

Also includes token name in the balance object returned by
fetchTokenBalances so the contract info well can display it.

da428a3815 fix: preserve ENS names on lookup failure, add debug logging (closes #22)
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 22s
Two issues that could cause ENS names to disappear:

1. refreshBalances: on ENS lookup error, addr.ensName was set to null,
wiping any previously resolved name. Now keeps the existing value
on error — only overwrites on successful lookup.

2. ens.js cache: failed lookups were cached as null for 12 hours,
preventing retries even after transient errors resolved. Now skips
caching on failure so subsequent lookups retry immediately.

Added debug logging to ENS reverse lookups in refreshBalances.

5af8a7873d Filter spam tokens from balance display
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 5s
Token balances from Blockscout are now filtered before display.
A token only appears if it meets at least one criterion:
- In the known 511-token list (by contract address)
- Explicitly tracked by the user (added via + Token)
- Has >= 1,000 holders on-chain

Also rejects tokens spoofing a known symbol from a different
contract address (same check used for transaction filtering).

This prevents airdropped spam tokens like "OpenClaw" from
appearing in the wallet without the user ever tracking them.

b5b4f75968 Add anti-poisoning filters for token transfers and send view
Some checks failed
check / check (push) Has been cancelled
Three layers of defense against address poisoning attacks:

1. Known symbol verification: tokens claiming a symbol from the
hardcoded top-250 list (e.g. "ETH", "USDT") but from an
unrecognized contract are identified as spoofs and always hidden.
Their contract addresses are auto-added to the fraud blocklist.

2. Low-holder filtering: tokens with <1000 holders are hidden from
both transaction history and the send token selector. Controlled
by the "Hide tokens with fewer than 1,000 holders" setting.

3. Fraud contract blocklist: a persistent local list of detected
fraud contract addresses. Transactions involving these contracts
are hidden. Controlled by the "Hide transactions from detected
   fraud contracts" setting.

Both settings default to on and can be disabled in Settings.
Fetching and filtering are separated: fetchRecentTransactions returns
raw data, filterTransactions is a pure function applying heuristics.
Token holder counts are now passed through from the Blockscout API.

0d543288b2 Parallelize address scanning and unify address display formatting
Some checks failed
check / check (push) Has been cancelled
Scanning: check all gap-limit addresses in parallel per batch instead
of sequentially. For a wallet with 1 used address this reduces from
12 sequential RPC round-trips to 1 parallel batch + 1 small follow-up.

Display: add shared formatAddressHtml(address, ensName, maxLen) and
escapeHtml() to helpers.js. Use them in confirm-tx (was missing color
dot entirely) and approval view. Remove duplicate escapeHtml from
addressDetail.js.

f50a2a0389 Refactor popup into shared modules, wire up real ERC-20 tokens
All checks were successful
check / check (push) Successful in 13s
Split popup/index.js (784 lines) into focused modules:
- shared/state.js: state management, storage persistence
- shared/wallet.js: mnemonic gen, HD derivation, signing
- shared/prices.js: price cache (5min TTL), USD formatting,
value aggregation (address → wallet → total)
- shared/balances.js: ETH + ERC-20 balance cache (60s TTL),
ENS lookup, token contract metadata lookup
- shared/vault.js: unchanged (libsodium encryption)
- shared/tokens.js: unchanged (token list + CoinDesk client)
- popup/index.js: view switching and event wiring only

Token tracking is now app-wide: trackedTokens stored in state,
balances fetched for all tracked tokens across all addresses.
Add Token now calls the real contract to read name/symbol/decimals.
Total portfolio value shown in 2x type on Home screen.
